Let me take you through the calendar of festivals I celebrate
March - Navroz
Persian culture is one of the richest ones in the world and has profoundly influenced other cultures, too (such as Ismailis :) ). One of the most beautiful customs which has been celebrated for over 3000 years now is Nowruz. Nowruz literally means “New Day” and is the start of the Iranian new year, celebrated on the very first day of spring, around 21 March. Haft-Sin or Haft-seen, is, in fact, the tradition of putting 7 symbolic objects together whose names commence with S. Other symbolic items accompany these 7 objects and together, they create a Haft-sin.
Here is my interpretation.

The week after is my Mum's birthday and we celebrate that too
June (in 2019) - Eid Al-Fitr.
In my household, one person at least including my Dad always fasts during Ramadan. Eid is the celebration to mark the end of Ramadan so it is normally a pretty big deal and as well as recieving money, celebrating in Khane and Adam usually saying Namaz, we have a meal, in a Persian or Lebanese restaurant. This has stopped for the past two years due to COVID and Adam and me turning Pesca/Vega- tarian. I'm trying to find the photo from what must be 2018/19 but for now here are some photos from our last Khane (prayers house) party
August- birthdays and wedding anniversary
My Dad and brother's birthday which may involve- Oreos, cricket, travelling, watersports, Thorpe park or seafood.
December - Christmas and New Years

A bit of holiday cheer
Although my family and I are Muslim we do celebrate Christmas to an extent. Here are some pics and recommendations to give you some festive cheer, shoutout to Mum/Shahira for putting up the Christmas tree this year
Sadly, I don’t have any photos of the reindeer chocolate cupcakes I made for House Bake-off last Friday but I do have a photo they were based on very similar to how they ended up looking (except with multicolour fruit pastilles for the nose)
I would link the cupcake recipe except I don’t think they were that good so I would stick with BBC good food or your current recipe.
Lastly here is me and my family with some Christmas lights ( a must-see winter staple)
This new-years we watched 'Don't look up' (review on December's Monthly Recommendations) and I made a little year wrap-up review post
Great post Iman. You forgot Yaum E Ali and be good to explain your inspiration - Was it the book launch I was watching on ismaili tv? Anyway, here is a reading. Maybe be good to link to the actual recording of it as it was so inspirational esp with the linked music - Ismaili Festivals: Stories of Celebration | the.Ismaili
